Martin Péril has spent more than 15 years leading human resources, industrial relations and organisational change for Australian businesses — from fast-growing SMEs to large, complex and unionised workforces. He's sat on both sides of the table: building people functions from scratch, and being called in when they've gone wrong.

Time and again he saw the same gap. Smaller businesses face exactly the same Fair Work obligations, award complexity and people risk as big ones — but can't justify a six-figure HR director, so they go without.
